Supporting professional jewellery designers with easy-to-learn CAD software and training

Our story - Sierra Consultancy
Official 3DESIGN reseller UK and Ireland

Pooja Sahny is director of Sierra Consultancy, the official 3DESIGN jewellery software reseller and support provider for the UK and Ireland. She is a goldsmith and jewellery designer by trade. Since recognising the growing role for technology, Pooja became certified in Computer Aided Design by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in London.

“Coming from a jewellery background and having worked at the bench, I understand how overwhelming it can be to enter the world of CAD.”

Helping jewellers become confident CAD designers

Discovering 3DESIGN jewellery design software changed Pooja Sahny’s relationship with CAD. It is much easier to use then typical engineering-focused packages.

Following her certification at GIA, Pooja spent 14 years working with 3DESIGN and Gravotech's range of CAD software. After this, Pooja set up Sierra Consultancy Ltd to help other jewellers benefit from this easy-to-use software suite.

“We understand the stages of manufacturing. Our trainers have the patience to teach and support you at every step. We focus on teaching the foundation of the software to help you think outside the box.”

Jewellery design experience

Pooja studied and worked in the heart of the Diamond District in Antwerp, Belgium. As a Goldsmith and Jewellery Designer, she participated in numerous museum exhibitions and competitions.

Pooja was a finalist for the Henry van de Velde Prijzen 2004 for best product and the HRD Awards "Diamonds are Fun" in 2005. After studying to be a goldsmith, in 2007 Pooja enrolled at the Gemological Institute of America to get certified in CAD.

Based on her experience, Pooja helped to write the brief and judge the 3D Design CAD category for the Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council 2020 competition. She also participated as a judge in the 2021 competition.

Sierra Consultancy was selected as a finalist in the Supplier of the Year category for the 2022 & 2023 National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) Awards and Service Supplier of the Year in Retail Jeweller's 2023 & 2024 Awards. Read more about it here.

Advice to become a jewellery CAD designer

“My advice to anyone looking to become a CAD jewellery designer is: choose a professional software you feel comfortable with, give yourself time to make mistakes and practice, practice, practice.”

“These are the reasons why I chose to work with 3DESIGN. I believed in it, I understood it and have seen it mature over the years.”
